Rohtak, October 13, 2025: Former-Vice-Chancellor of the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) Prof. Ghaleb Alhadrami, along with renowned Malayalam actor and producer G. Suresh Kumar, visited Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA) today to meet Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya and explore avenues of academic and creative collaboration.
The duo’s visit comes as part of exploratory discussions for the establishment of a College of Film & Television in the UAE, where DLC SUPVA’s expertise and institutional experience in film education could play a pivotal role.
G Suresh, a renowned name in Malayalam cinema, began his career as an Assistant Director in the 1978 feature film Thiranottam and went on to produce over 30 Malayalam films and act in 28 feature films. His visit to the Rohtak campus was marked by warm interactions, insightful exchanges, and his keen interest in the training pedagogy of SUPVA’s Film & Television faculty.
Accompanied by Registrar Dr. Gunjan Malik Manocha and faculty heads, VC Dr. Amit Arya took the guests on a comprehensive campus tour, showcasing state-of-the-art labs, studios, and workshops in the faculties of Design, Architecture, and Film & Television. The delegation was particularly impressed by the integration of traditional art forms with cutting-edge technology — a hallmark of SUPVA’s creative education model.
Interacting with students of the Film & TV department, G. Suresh encouraged them to “stay rooted in regional and vernacular narratives while thinking globally.” He said, “Regional cinema has a soul of its own. It carries the stories, dialects, and dreams of our people. I’m deeply impressed by how SUPVA is nurturing young filmmakers with both creative sensitivity and technical precision. This institution truly reflects the future of Indian cinema.”
Prof. Ghaleb Alhadrami expressed optimism about forging academic and creative partnerships with SUPVA. “I see immense potential for collaboration in the fields of film, design, and performing arts. The infrastructure and creative environment here are world-class. We look forward to developing academic exchanges, joint training programs, and cultural projects between UAE and SUPVA.”
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya, welcoming the guests, highlighted the university’s expanding international engagement. “SUPVA is proud to be recognized by global academic leaders and creative visionaries. This visit marks a significant step toward building transnational collaborations that blend education, culture, and creative enterprise.”
Registrar Dr. Gunjan Malik Manocha added, “It’s inspiring to see international universities and industry leaders taking interest in SUPVA’s multidisciplinary approach. Such partnerships can pave the way for joint degrees, student exchanges, and collaborative productions that bridge cultures through cinema.”
The visit concluded with an informal interaction session with students. Both Prof. Ghaleb and G. Suresh Kumar expressed hope that this association would soon translate into a formal partnership promoting cross-cultural learning and cinematic collaboration between India and the UAE.
