Lyallpur Khalsa College NSS Units start Seven Day Special Camp
Lyallpur Khalsa College regularly organizes a variety of programmes aimed at the overall development of its students. In continuation of this commitment, the NSS Units of the college initiated a Seven Day Special Camp today, being organized from December 20 to 26, 2025, under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India. The camp was inaugurated by Principal Prof. Navdeep Kaur, who marked the occasion by planting a sapling on the campus.
Jalandhar, December 20, 2025: Lyallpur Khalsa College regularly organizes a variety of programmes aimed at the overall development of its students. In continuation of this commitment, the NSS Units of the college initiated a Seven Day Special Camp today, being organized from December 20 to 26, 2025, under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India. The camp was inaugurated by Principal Prof. Navdeep Kaur, who marked the occasion by planting a sapling on the campus.
Addressing the NSS volunteers, Prof. Navdeep Kaur motivated them to actively participate in this camp focused on personality development and youth empowerment. She emphasized that youth are an indispensable cog in achieving the dream of a Viksit Bharat by 2047. She further opined that the progress of the nation depends on balanced rural and urban development, and encouraged the volunteers to carry the message of nation-building to rural areas by promoting digital literacy and sustainable development goals.
Chief Programme Officer Prof. Satpal Singh informed that the Special NSS Camp is being organised on the theme of sustainable development and youth empowerment. He shared that a wide range of activities have been planned during the camp, including cleanliness drives, rallies to save water, community service, plantation drives, street plays on drug de-addiction, awareness lectures on human rights, digital literacy and citizens’ responsibilities, tributes to the martyrdom of the Sahibzadas, feel-good programmes with persons with disabilities, recreational activities, and outreach initiatives in the adopted village.
On the first day of the camp, the registration process was completed and teams were formed to ensure smooth organisation. The day began with physical exercises, followed by practice sessions of the NSS song and NSS clap. Volunteers then participated in campus cleaning activities under shramdaan. After lunch, an awareness lecture was organised in which Prof. Satpal Singh elaborated in detail on the objectives of NSS, its history, and various state and national-level camps.
Volunteers who had previously attended national-level camps such as the National Integration Camp (NIC), Pre-RD Camp, and Adventure Camp also shared their experiences with fellow participants. It is noteworthy that all activities of the camp are being planned and executed by the NSS volunteers themselves under the guidance and supervision of the NSS Programme Officers.
The inauguration event was also attended by Prof. Simranjit Singh Bains, Programme Officer Amandeep Kaur, Programme Officer Navneet Kaur, and Prof. Ubique Bedi, who extended their support and encouragement to the volunteers.
