Ludhiana Sanskritik Samagam brings next play “Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai” on Dec 23

Ludhiana, December 22, 2023: Ludhiana Sanskritik Samagam has always provided an ideal platform for artists to showcase their talent and enrich the people of Ludhiana.

Next play “Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai” is scheduled on 23rd of December at 7.30pm in Guru Nanak Bhawan.  This play is inspired from Arbuzov’s original Russian play “Do you Sommersault’ and being performed by well known veteran actors Himani Shivpuri and Rajendra Gupta.  The play has worn most prestigious 22nd Bharat Rang Mahotsava Award 2023.
      
Sarita Sharma is at a sea side health centre to recoup and rejuvenate but according to Dr. Bullar, the head of the centre, there is hardly anything wrong with her physically.  Her unpredictable ways, funny ideas and impulsive action have completely unturned his familiar, orderly world. The old lady instincts refuse to confirm to rules leading to explosive confrontations with the utterly responsible Dr. Bhullar.  But Sarita’s enthusiasm for life is infectious and the lonely doctor finds their irritating conflicts and confrontations growing in to concern, understanding and perhaps to the beginning of a delicate new relationship. 

She teaches him to enjoy old age, be it by going for recitals, drinking in a pub, dancing in a street, getting soaked in the rain or hearing the sound of the waves lapping at the shore.  No wonder then that the story is a “happy ever after one”.   It does not more pine or despair, but reveals in the new vistas that old age holds.

Himani Shivpuri needs no introduction; a Doon School and NSD product is a versatile actress in all format, be in films like Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, Kuchh Kuchh Hota Hai, Hero No.1, Pardes etc, TV Soup like – Kasauti, Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thee or Happu Ki Ultan Paltan.

Rajendra Gupta also alumnus of National School of Drama, is permanent fixture of popular Hindi films including Lagaan, Tanu weds Manu as well as in TV serials of Offbeat Drama.

This will be the 123rd show of Ludhiana Sanskritik Samagam and the duration of the show is 90 minutes.
