Punjab issues NOC but Centre fails to initiate construction on Doraha-Neelon railway crossing : Giaspura

Doraha/Payal (Ludhiana), June 30, 2025: MLA Manvinder Singh Giaspura on Monday launched a massive protest along with hundreds of people against non-construction on Doraha-Neelon road by Center and its Department of Railways.
Accompanied by local residents facing hardships due to dilapidated state of this vital road connectivity between Chandigarh and Malwa region, MLA Manvinder Singh Giaspura accused the Centre Government for not initiating construction despite issuance of requisite NOC by the AAP Government in Punjab. The MLA said that this major road from Doraha to Neelon was in bad shape especially the two kilometer stretch besides railway crossing. He said the residents had been raising this issue for more than last one decade but to no avail. He also accused the Union Minister of the State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu for his sheer failure to get wings for this project. He said Bittu claiming development project in Sangrur district but he should look into this project falling his own district resulting in severe hardships for residents and commuter. He also warned the Union Government and State Minister for intensifying the agitation in coming time if no concrete actions is taken.
MLA Giaspura said that Bittu was making hollow statements but in reality the output is zero. He said Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann had already given its financial share and the NOC on November 11, 2024 despite that construction process is still in limbo.
Pertinently a massive protest was held today over the issue under leadership of Giaspura. On this occasion Municipal Council Doraha President Sudarshan Kumar Pappu, Councilor Kulwant Singh, Ranjit Singh, Chairman Buta Singh Rano, Chairman Karan Sihora, besides village panch-sarpanch, traders and a large number of residents were present.
Meanwhile, the Senior Assistant Engineer of the Railway Department from Ambala Amarjit Singh reached the spot and assured that the tender process of the project would be initiated shortly.
