The Schools of Physical Education & Allied Medical Sciences at Lovely Professional University (LPU) organized ‘1st International Conference on Good Health and Well-Being through Physical Education and Sports’ at its Baldev Raj Mittal Auditorium. The conference was co-funded by the Erasmus plus programme of the European Union, where keynote speakers were from foreign lands; multi-speciality hospitals; and, top universities.


Jalandhar, October 1, 2023: The Schools of Physical Education & Allied Medical Sciences at Lovely Professional University (LPU) organized ‘1st International Conference on Good Health and Well-Being through Physical Education and Sports’ at its Baldev Raj Mittal Auditorium. The conference was co-funded by the Erasmus plus programme of the European Union, where keynote speakers were from foreign lands; multi-speciality hospitals; and, top universities.

The Erasmus Programme ("EuRopean Community Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students") is a European Union (EU) programme to support education, training, youth and sport. Patron of the conference; LPU’s Pro-Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal inaugurated the conference and also released the abstracts book related to the conference. Mrs Mittal congratulated all at the helm of affairs of the conference for passing on important know-how about health and well-being to the young students and sports-persons.

Jointly organized by the departments of sports and physiotherapy of LPU’s two schools; the conference aimed to provide a platform to know research findings in the recent advancements in the field of physical education, sports sciences, and physiotherapy. All technical sessions were largely on the scientific sports performance; mental health; technology in sports; inclusive sports; wellness and lifestyle management.

On this occasion, Head of the Department of Physiotherapy and Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation Centre at Nanavati Super Specialty Hospital, Mumbai; Dr Ali Irani shared with all attendees why fitness is very important for all in the present era. Dr Arvind Malik of Kurukshetra University (Haryana) talked about ‘fitness and nutrition’. Role of nutrition in the strengthening of the immune system was discussed by Prof.(Dr.) Sanjay Sharma of HPU, Shimla.  Biomechanics Lead from Sports Authority of India, Dr Rahul Tiwari told about sports medicines. And, Prof.(Dr.) Oleksandr Krasilshchikov from the Malaysian University Teknologi MARA discussed applying an Interdisciplinary approach to injury prevention and management.

LPU’s Pro-Vice Dr Sanjay Modi; Registrar, Prof Dr Monica Gulati; Deputy Dean, Dept. of Physiotherapy, Dr Suresh Mani; and, Deputy Dean, School of Physical Education, Prof Dr Neelam Sharma streamlined  the conference.

The conference aimed to update the knowledge of health and well-being through physical education and sports. It provided a platform for experts and practitioners to share their insights, experiences, and latest research findings on the topic. The participants also had the opportunity to ask questions and engage in discussions with the speakers. More than 300 delegates have presented their research papers showcasing the health problems existing in the society to further come up with remedies.

Thus, the objectives of the conference were to provide a platform to all concerned to exchange their ideas and innovations; recent advancements and challenges in the physical education, sports science, novel physiotherapy approaches; and, find international linkage for future collaborations. The key areas discussed in sports performance were ‘Sports Biomechanics and Kinesiology; Psychological demands; Technology; and, inclusive sports.’
