Jalandhar, November 3, 2016: Since inaugurated by AICTE Chairman Prof Anil Dattatraya Sahasrabudhe, Human Resource Development Center (HRDC) at Lovely Professional University has organized many workshops, research endeavours and training programs through eminent resource persons for LPU faculty and staff members. Recently, a management development program on the topic ‘Emotional Intelligence for Leaders’ was organized, where renowned mentor, author and motivational speaker Mr Vivek Atray, ex-IAS, mentored heads of various departments of LPU. Executive Director of Vibrant Advisory Services Ms Preeti Parashar also conducted this program. More than 100 LPU leaders participated in the day long program for an experiential learning of key leadership skills.

Taking the example of former Prime Minister of India Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Mr Atray asked all participants to be better communicator along with being firm and decisive in their actions. According to the participants, the prominent understanding they made included seeing the bigger picture; ability to handle stress in a better way; peacemaking conduct; improved consideration of colleagues; balanced leadership skills; and, the magic of cheerfulness. The program was conducted with a judicious blend of practical scenarios, experiential activities, case studies and film analysis. The participants expressed their views enthusiastically on current leadership issues affecting India at the international scenario.

LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal informed: “Aiming to revive the glory of the ancient Indian education system, we have specially devised HRDC to train faculty and staff members as per their domains. Getting well versed with world class skills and abilities, they will further prepare LPU students to succeed in a highly competitive professional environment. At LPU, we care for young aspiring minds so that they become architects of the future society. We feel satisfied when we provide ace professionals to India and the world.”

Prior to this program, LPU faculty members have already been trained on ‘High Impact Teaching Skills’ by training consultant from Dale Carnegie Training India, headquartered in New York, USA. LPU and National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR) Chandigarh collaborate for providing state of the art training. Various eminent resource persons from University of Iowa (USA); Illinois Wesleyan University (USA); Lake head University, Canada; Energyzt (USA), IIT Roorkee; Institute of Microbial Technology (IMTECH), Chandigarh; IIFT Delhi; and, many more have also mentored faculty members.
