Recognition Extended Across Diploma, Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Doctoral Researchers

Jalandhar: A distinguished academic gathering at Lovely Professional University (LPU) celebrated the intellectual pursuits of over 2,700+ student researchers spanning diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes. In recognition of their scholarly accomplishments, students collectively received financial incentives amounting to ₹1.65 crore, underscoring the University’s commitment to nurturing a vibrant culture of inquiry and discovery.

The ceremony was graced by eminent dignitaries, with Chief Guest Sayyid Sadiqali Shihab Thangal, Kerala State President of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) Chairman, National Political Advisory Committee. The event was presided over by Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Founder Chancellor of LPU, and was further distinguished by the presence of Guests of Honour E.T. Mohammed Basheer, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), and P.V. Abdul Wahab, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Kerala, Leader and Treasurer of the Indian Union Muslim League, Col. Dr. Rashmi Mittal, Pro-Chancellor of LPU.

In the welcome address, Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal extended a warm welcome to the distinguished delegation from Kerala and commended the inauguration of the Punjab Shihab Thangal Cultural Centre near the University. Dr. Mittal highlighted research as the cornerstone of societal advancement, reiterating LPU’s vision of shaping knowledge that contributes not only to national growth but also to global progress. Reflecting on the large number of students from Kerala who have chosen LPU for their higher education, Dr. Mittal emphasised that their academic journeys mirror the University’s values of quality, diversity, and innovation.

The Chief Guest, Sayyid Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal, interacted with the Malayali student community, sharing candid moments of encouragement and appreciation. Echoing the spirit of cultural and educational exchange, he praised the institution’s efforts in providing a platform where students from diverse backgrounds thrive. Guests of Honour, in their reflections, lauded the institution’s philosophy of giving back to society. E.T. Mohammed Basheer described LPU as a university that lives by the ethos of “paying back more than what we received,” while P.V. Abdul Wahab observed that LPU has established itself as a trendsetter in the nation’s educational landscape through its quality-driven approach.

The event also brought into focus the immense strength of LPU’s research ecosystem, designed through industrial partnerships, global collaborations, cutting-edge laboratories, expert mentorship, and robust funding support. With more than 28,000+ publications, 2,58,800+ Scopus citations, an H-index of 174, over 2,900 intellectual property rights granted, ₹97.8 crore worth of funded projects, and 550+ international research tie-ups, LPU has evolved into a formidable hub of knowledge creation.

Student researchers who excelled in their fields were recognised with significant incentives, reflecting the University’s ethos of rewarding perseverance and academic rigor. Among the top achievers, a PhD scholar received the highest incentive of ₹1.79 lakh, followed by a postgraduate researcher with ₹63,000 and an undergraduate student with ₹26,000. Such distinctions embody LPU’s vision of encouraging curiosity and excellence across all levels of education.

The Guests of Honour commended LPU for promoting a generation of young scholars equipped with the skills and values required to address both national imperatives and global challenges.
