LOK SABHA ELECTIONS 2019: SPECIAL GENERAL OBSERVER TAKES STOCK OF POLL PREPARATIONS FOR LUDHIANA PARLIAMENTARY CONSTITUENCY
DISTRICT ELECTION OFFICER & POLICE CHIEF’S ASSURE THAT ENTIRE ELECTION PROCESS TO BE CARRIED IN A FREE, FAIR & PEACEFUL ATMOSPHERE Ludhiana, May 3, 2019: For supervising the upcoming Lok Sabha elections for Ludhiana Parliamentary Constituency-7, the Election Commission of India has already deputed two expenditure observers, a police observer and a general observer. The ECI has also deputed Mr Raghav Chandra, IAS (Retd) as Special General Observer for Ludhiana Parliamentary Constituency-7, who reached the city today evening. Upon his arrival in Ludhiana, Special General Observer Mr Raghav Chandra held a meeting with the Returning Officer, Police Officials and Assistant Returning Officers, here today, and issued necessary directions. During the meeting, Mr Chandra took stock of the poll preparations in the constituency and directed that Model Code of Conduct should be enforced in its true spirit so that the upcoming elections are carried out in a free, fair, transparent and peaceful atmosphere. He also showed satisfaction over the poll preparations in Ludhiana parliamentary constituency and directed the officials that 100% voter participation in the elections should be ensured by making dedicated efforts. He also directed the police officials to establish direct contact with voters of areas, where they suspect that the voters can be influenced. He directed the police officials to ensure that there is no fear in the mind of voters of such areas. On this occasion, District Election Officer cum Deputy Commissioner Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal, Assistant Returning Officers and Police Officials briefed the Special General Observer about the ongoing poll preparations by them. They assured Mr Raghav Chandra that the upcoming Lok Sabha elections would be carried out in a free, fair, transparent and peaceful atmosphere. The Deputy Commissioner informed that all teams are performing their duties with utmost devotion. Prominent among those present on the occasion included all observers, Commissioner of Police Dr Sukhchain Singh Gill, SSP Khanna Mr Gursharandeep Singh Grewal, Additional District Election Officer cum ADC (D) Mr Sanyam Aggarwal, ADC (Jagraon) Mrs Neeru Katyal Gupta, ADC (G) Mr Iqbal Singh Sandhu, all Assistant Returning Officers, all senior police officers and nodal officers of various committees.
