The Department of Library and Information Science, Panjab University, organised a library orientation tour for the students of B.Lib. and M.Lib. at the A.C. Joshi Library.

Chandigarh, September 10, 2025: The Department of Library and Information Science, Panjab University, organised a library orientation tour for the students of B.Lib. and M.Lib. at the A.C. Joshi Library.
The students were taken from 8 to 10 September 2025 on the tour under the guidance of Research Scholars, Mr. Shahzeb and Ms. Suruchi.
Dr. Suman Sumi (Assistant Librarian) delivered a presentation to explain the functioning of the library and provide an overview of its resources and services. She introduced students to the WebOPAC and explained how to use the library website.
Dr. Richa Gupta (Library Assistant) and Ms. Pooja Rai conducted a detailed library tour. They explained the process of book acquisition, classification, cataloguing, and circulation. They also showed students the locations of the books.
Students were further familiarised with various sections, including acquisition, reference, and other important sections, as well as the complete process through which books are procured, processed, and made available to users.
The orientation programme provided practical knowledge of library operations and enriched the students’ understanding of how information resources are systematically managed and delivered at A.C. Joshi Library.
