Library inaugurated at Dewan Hospital & Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery Center

Ludhiana, October 2, 2017: Today, on the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, a library was inaugurated at Dewan Hospital & Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery Center, Civil Lines, Ludhiana by S.Gian Singh Saggu, President, Punjab State Freedom Fighters’ Organization of India.
Dr Narotam Dewan who has created the library said that it contains about 3000 books and journals on medicine, surgery, history, literature, religion, motivation and philosophy. He said that any person who is interested to read can get registered to read these books in the library from 3pm to 6pm on week days and 11 am to 6 pm on Sundays. He quoted Mahatma Gandhi “The books are more precious than, precious gems as these provide only outward shine whereas the books shine your inner self”.
Inauguration of Library was followed by Seminar on “India of Dewan Jagdish Chandra’s (First MLA of Ludhiana, Freedom Fighter and Advocate) Dreams”. Dt Neeta Dewan, Diet and Nutrition Consultant & Director of Dewan Hospital, welcomed the freedom fighter successors and paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and Dewan Jagdish Chandra.
Dr Narotam Dewan, read out an article on the Dreams of Dewan Jagdish Chandra about free India. He stressed that the fundamental responsibilities of the Government lie in providing free world standard total health care, free world standard education, corruption free governance, safety, security and drug mafia free nation. Without meeting the foundational needs of the people of our nation, it is impossible to construct a strong and prosperous India. These dreams were debated and a consensus was formed to make a representation to the Government to work for fulfilling the dreams which motivated freedom fighters (Please find attached the details of dreams and demands from the Government attached separately). It was decided that if there is inadequate response from the Government than “Awareness marches will be held by freedom fighter successors at Ludhiana, Chandigarh and New Delhi.
S Gian Singh Saggu spoke that the families of the freedom fighters suffered the most as British Government not only imprisoned their parents but also crushed their businesses and sources of income. He said that the plight of the descendants of Saheed Udham Singh who are working as labourers is known to all. The difficulties of the families of freedom fighters are not being solved by Governments and their small demands are not being fulfilled. Dr Saggu demanded some facilities for freedom fighter successors – the details of which are attached.
After debate in the seminar, the following demands were made from the state and central Governments.
• Hospitals with 10,000 bed capacity and of world standard must be created rapidly by the Governments in all districts of India to provide all types of treatments to all citizens of India free of cost.
• Schools, Colleges and Universities for 100,000 students be opened in all districts of India to provide free education at all levels to all Indian citizens. Good and undisputed teachings from all religions be taught in schools to impart character and moral values.
• Science and technology should be applied to provide clean air, water and food to all Indians. Its misuse leading to toxicity, serious diseases and death of Indian population be stopped immediately.
• Sever punishment like death penalties be awarded to politicians and businessmen who rob the Indians of their bread, medicines, clothe and dignity by looting the money collected in taxes from poor Indians. Any politician, businessmen or officer who indulge in corruption for above Rs 100,000/= be hanged till death. The corrupt should be treated as terrorists.
• All tobacco products be banned and alcohol vends shifted at one place away from inhabitations. Drug mafia be dealt with like terrorists and no small fish or big shark in the trade be spared. Special anti-drug operations be carried out to eliminate all trade and traders in drugs.
• To create unity and harmony among all Indians all state be reorganized on development basis, every Indian be allowed to live, work and settle anywhere in India with safety and dignity.
About 50 freedom fighters’ successors’ were honored for their participation in social welfare of the society and for their contribution to the organization.
Dr Ashok Sharma, President, Punjab State Freedom Fighters’ Successors’ Organization, Ludhiana (rural), thanked the gathering and vowed to fulfill the dreams of freedom fighters.
