Chandigarh, October 3, 2023: The Department of Library and Information Science, Panjab University, Chandigarh organized a lecture on “Librarianship: Then and Now” under ‘Alumni Connect Series’.
Dr. Shiv Kumar, Chairperson pointed out that we have initiated this series to connect students with alumni and to connect alumni with students as well as the department. Students will have interaction with them and will learn about practical intricacies of librarianship. They will learn from their experiences as they have long professional and practical experience.
Mukul Pandey, Research Scholar of department anchored the event and theme of the lecture. Dr. V.K. Anand was speaker of today’s talk and is alumnus of the department. He is retired University Librarian, A.C. Joshi Library, Panjab University, Chandigarh. He has served the academia for 45 years along with 23 years of teaching experience in the field.
In the lecture he mentioned the vast changes that librarianship has gone through due course of time along with comparing its challenges and benefits. He also added the role of ICT and Electronic resources in current librarianship practices.
Today’s lecture was attended by about 70 participants. Chanchal Yadav, Research Scholar of department, presented vote of thanks.
