Chandigarh, February 29, 2024: Panjab University Zoological Society, Department of Zoology, PU, Chandigarh celebrated National Science Day-2024. Paper presentation on the theme ‘Indigenous Technologies for Viksit Bharat’ and quiz competitions were organized to mark the event. For the quiz competition, four teams out of eight teams were selected by a pre-screening test and team consisting of Aditi, Jeenat and Roop Preet was declared as winner. For the paper presentation, students of UG and PG classes participated and discussed about various topics like space technology, vaccines, Indigenous CAR-T cell therapy, Ayurveda, UPI and green computing technology. In this event, Agrima, Manveer and Balkaran were declared as 1st, 2nd and 3rd, respectively. All the faculty members and students actively participated in discussion and enjoyed the scientific treat on this occasion.

Department of Microbial Biotechnology, Panjab University, Chandigarh organized “Stonescapes”, an exhibition of paintings on stones made by the students of the department to commemorate the National Science Day, informed Dr. Rachna Singh, Chairperson of the department. The stone paintings depicted scientists, scientific phenomena and processes, technologies, instruments and Viksit Bharat. The event was open to public and was attended by faculty, scientists and students from institutes in and around Chandigarh, and department alumni.

The University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS), Panjab University recently hosted a prestigious event to honor its accomplished alumni who have excelled in the Punjab Judicial Services Examination (PSC(J)) 2023. The ceremony was graced by esteemed faculty members, including Dr. Shruti Bedi (Director, UILS), and Dr. Rattan Singh and Dr. Jai Mala (Faculty Coordinators). The students were felicitated by Prof. Renu Vig (Vice- Chancellor, PU). The event recognized the dedication and hard work of these alumni, who are soon to transition from students into respected judicial officers. With an impressive 36% strike rate, UILS continues to be a beacon of excellence in legal education..

Prof. Renu Vig, Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh awarded the ‘Financial Assistance of Rs. 1,00,000/- each for Innovative work/project to the Research Scholars of Science namely Richa Yadav, Department of Microbiology, Mansimran, Department of Biotechnology, Niket Rana, Department of Biotechnology, Priyanka Mankotia, Institute of Forensic Science  Criminology, Sahil Thakur, Department of Chemistry, Ankita Garg, Department of Chemistry, Navneet Taya, Department of Chemistry  and Engineering students namely Vikramjit Pawar, UIET , Aryan Singh Dhiman & Manik Singla, UIET, Uma Sharma, UIET streams for one year.  Seven research scholars from Science and three from Engineering streams were awarded.
