Language is a carrier of culture, traditions, and values: HIRD Director Dr. Chauhan
Language is not merely a medium of communication but also a carrier of our culture, traditions, and values; we have a responsibility towards our mother tongue. Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan, Director of the Haryana Institute of Rural Development (HIRD), expressed these views during the valedictory session of a training program on GIS-based monitoring of Gram Panchayats, conducted under the 'Yuktdhara' initiative as part of the ‘VB-G RAM G’ scheme.
Nilokheri, July 18, 2026: Language is not merely a medium of communication but also a carrier of our culture, traditions, and values; we have a responsibility towards our mother tongue.
Dr. Chauhan planted saplings on the HIRD campus alongside the participants and demonstrated the process of effective monitoring and conservation using modern technology through geo-tagging. Additional Block Programme Officers and Junior Engineers from Sonipat and Hisar were present on the occasion.
HIRD Director Dr. Chauhan stated that 'Yuktdhara' is an effective tool for ensuring transparency, quality, and effective monitoring of development works in Gram Panchayats through modern technology. GIS-based planning and digital mapping will enable the scientific implementation of development schemes in Gram Panchayats.
He noted that maximizing the use of technology under 'VB-G RAM G'—a revamped version of MGNREGA—would give a new direction to rural development and ensure that the benefits of schemes reach the last person with greater transparency and effectiveness.
During the training, participants received practical instruction on the entire process of geo-tagging development works, public assets, and tree plantation activities in Gram Panchayats. They were informed that geo-tagging digitally records the precise geographical location, photographs, and essential details of every development project and planted sapling, thereby enabling real-time monitoring, quality assessment, and transparent verification of the works.
Speaking as a special guest, Dr. Pradeep Rai from the Media Institute of Kurukshetra University emphasized that in this era of information explosion, media literacy is also absolutely essential. Program Coordinator Kamaldeep Sangwan presented the outline of the training program.
Mohammad Zafar from the National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRDPR), Hyderabad, briefed participants on the technical aspects of 'Yuktdhara,' providing detailed information on the GIS-based monitoring system, digital mapping, geo-tagging of assets, and technology-driven planning in Gram Panchayats.
Additional Block Programme Officers—Sundar, Sushma, Seema, and Rajpal—along with other officials and participants, were present on the occasion.
