KMVites gain Real-World Insight into Dairy Technology at Verka Milk Plant
Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) organised an industrial visit to the Verka Milk Plant for the students of B. Voc. (Nutrition and Dietetics) and 10+2 Arts (Home Science). The purpose of the visit was to provide practical exposure to dairy processing, quality control, and hygiene practices in the food industry.
Jalandhar, May 3, 2026: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) organised an industrial visit to the Verka Milk Plant for the students of B. Voc. (Nutrition and Dietetics) and 10+2 Arts (Home Science). The purpose of the visit was to provide practical exposure to dairy processing, quality control, and hygiene practices in the food industry.
The session highlighted the importance of milk processing, supply chain management, and the role of dairy products in nutrition. The students were then guided through various sections of the plant & observed the milk reception process, where raw milk is collected and tested for quality parameters such as fat content and purity. The pasteurization process was explained in detail, emphasizing its role in eliminating harmful microorganisms while preserving nutritional value. Further, students also visited the packaging unit, where they saw automated machines used for packaging milk and milk products like curd, butter, and paneer under hygienic conditions. Special attention was given to quality control measures, including laboratory testing and adherence to food safety standards. Students gained insight into how large-scale food industries maintain hygiene, efficiency, and product quality.
Director Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that the visit successfully fulfilled its objective of providing practical exposure and bridging the gap between theory and real-world applications.
