Jalandhar, October 30, 2026: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) P.G. Department of Physics celebrated “Photon Fiesta – A Celebration of Light, Joy and Togetherness” with great enthusiasm and festive fervor.
The celebration beautifully blended the spirit of Diwali with creativity, scientific awareness, environmental responsibility, and cultural expression, providing students with a vibrant platform to highlight their artistic talents, innovative ideas, and social consciousness. The celebrations featured a series of engaging competitions and performances, transforming the department into a lively space of colours, creativity and festive energy.
The Rangoli Competition saw students creating beautiful patterns and traditional motifs, symbolizing prosperity, positivity, and the triumph of light over darkness. The Poster-Making Competition gave an opportunity for students to communicate meaningful messages through artistic expression, highlighting the importance of celebrating an environmentally conscious and sustainable Diwali. The Classroom Decoration Competition added to the festive ambience, as students creatively transformed their classrooms with innovative decorations, vibrant colours and thematic displays, reflecting teamwork and collective enthusiasm. A major highlight of the celebration was the Nukkad Natak on ‘Green Diwali’, through which students effectively conveyed the message of celebrating Diwali responsibly by discouraging firecrackers, reducing air and noise pollution, minimizing waste and embracing eco-friendly practices. The impactful street play sensitized the audience towards the environmental consequences of conventional celebrations and encouraged everyone to make sustainable choices. Adding further significance to the occasion, students presented a thought-provoking Skit on “Save Earth” emphasizing the urgent need to protect our planet and conserve its natural resources. Through an engaging blend of dialogue, expression and performance, the students highlighted the importance of individual responsibility in addressing environmental challenges. The performances were complemented by a lively musical presentation by the Physics students, which added rhythm, joy and cultural vibrancy to the festivities.
Director Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi appreciated the enthusiasm, creativity and active participation of the students and lauded the department's initiative in integrating scientific awareness with cultural celebrations and environmental sensitization.
