KMV organises week-long celebrations in commemoration of Gandhi Jayanti

Jalandhar, October 1, 2023: In honour of the revered leader Mahatma Gandhi and his principles of truth and non-violence, Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) organised a week-long celebration in commemoration of Gandhi Jayanti. 

The celebrations aim to instil the values of peace, harmony, and social responsibility among the students. As part of this initiative, KMV organised shramdaan for swachchhata based on the theme “Ek Tareekh Ek Ghanta Ek Saath” to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti. Students under NCC, NSS and Student Welfare carried out various activities namely cleaning of college lawns, labs, canteen, classroom , hostel rooms etc., Participated in swatchtta based performances, rallies to generate awareness about shramdaan for swachchhata. These events were aimed at rendering services to the community while studying in an educational institution and to arouse the social conscience among students and to provide them with an opportunity to work for community and to develop   leadership qualities, national outlook and a sense of civic responsibility amongst students. As part of this initiative, students from Sanskriti KMV School had the unique opportunity to visit the college campus. These students embarked on a transformative journey as they visited the Gandhian Studies Centre of KMV to delve into the profound life of Mahatma Gandhi. Immersed in an atmosphere resonating with the ethos of truth and non-violence, the students had the opportunity to explore the rich history and philosophy that shaped Gandhi ji's extraordinary legacy. The center provided a captivating narrative, unveiling the pivotal moments and principles that defined the Mahatma's life as they witnessed an exhibition in the centre related to the life of Gandhiji. 

As the students absorbed the teachings of Gandhiji, they gained a deeper understanding of the values that continue to inspire generations while interacting with Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi. This immersive experience not only broadened their historical perspective but also ignited a sense of social responsibility, encouraging them to carry forward the torch of Gandhian principles in their own lives. 

On this occasion, quiz and slog writing activities were also organised for the school students and the students were also honoured by Principal. 

Principal Prof Dr Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that educating our students about the life and principles of Mahatma Gandhi is essential in shaping responsible and compassionate citizens for the future. She further maintained that through these celebrations, we hope to imbibe the timeless values championed by Gandhi ji and empower our students to make meaningful contributions to society. 

Principal lauded the efforts of Dr Madhumeet, Dean, Department of Student Welfare, Dr Gurjot, Dr Monica Sharma, Dr Ashima Sahni, Dr Sonik Bhatia, Rajinder and Ranjana for successfully organising the event.
