KMV organises webinar to commemorate World Wetlands Day
Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) organised a webinar on the occasion of World Wetlands Day
Jalandhar, February 3, 2022: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) organised a webinar on the occasion of World Wetlands Day. The webinar was organised by PG Department of Zoology. Dr. Anish Dua, Professor, Department of Zoology, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar was the resource person for the webinar. Dr. Dua started his lecture with this year's theme "Wetlands Action For People And Nature" of the World Wetlands Day and also highlighted the importance of wetlands. He also emphasised on the conservation and protection of catchment area for a healthy wetland ecosystem and pointed out that the wetlands are important for retaining water during dry periods, maintaining aesthetic beauty and biodiversity that has a strong link with sustainable ecosystem. Finally, he concluded his talk by inspiring the participants to take action for the conservation of the wetland ecosystem. The webinar ended with a healthy discussion between the students and Dr Dua. Principal Prof Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that these kind of awareness activities play a vital role in raising the awareness of the students towards the climate change & other global environmental issues & concerns. She further maintained that KMV from time to time keeps on organising such kind of awareness activities to inspire students for environmental conservation. Madam Principal lauded the efforts of Mrs Sadhna Tandon, Head, PG Department of Zoology and other faculty members for successfully organising the webinar.
