Ludhiana, August 2, 2018: The Police District Khanna is showing the way to villages for getting drug-free. With the efforts of SSP Khanna Mr Dhruv Dahiya, 30 villages under Police District Khanna have declared themselves to be drug free.
Khanna SSP Mr Dhruv Dahiya informed that ever since he joined his office at Khanna, he has been spearheading an anti-drug campaign in all areas under his jurisdiction. He said that the police officials are carrying out a door to door identification of villages, who want to declare themselves drug free. The SSP said that till date, the villages which have claimed themselves as drug free include Bisanpura, Jahangir (under Police Station Doraha), Diva Khosa, Diva Mander, Julamgarh, Ghurala, Majri, Aloona Tola, Mallanpur, Jandali, Mahpur, Majri, Nizampur and Aloona Miana (under Police Station Payal), Dhande, Taparian, Ladhran, Roopa, Khehra, Bagli Khurd and Rohle (under Police Station Samrala), Udhowal Mand, Udhowal Khurd, Kamaalpura, Burj Kacha and Jhar Sahib (Under Police Station Machhiwara Sahib), Kishanpura, Roshiana, Madnipur and Daulatpur (under Police Station Maloud).

Mr Dahiya said that the village residents have also been asked to assist the police in identifying the drug addicts in their respective villages. He said that once the drug addicts are identified, their counselling is done by experts and then they are sent to drug de-addiction centres for treatment. He said that some NGOs have also come forward for providing financial assistance to the Khanna Police regarding this drug de-addiction drive.
He said that once a person is totally free from drug addiction, the police is ensuring that the addiction does not relapse. He said that all Police Stations under Police District Khanna are maintaining a record of drug addicts, who have been helped by the police for drug de-addiction. He informed that Police Public Committees have also been formed in all parts of Khanna, who have been asked to ensure the entire police district becomes drug free.
SSP Mr Dhruv Dahiya stated that the Khanna police is committed to make the entire area drug free and warned that if any person is caught smuggling drugs in the area, he would be dealt very strongly and strict action would be taken against him. He said that his target is to make at least 60 villages drug free so that the Police District Khanna can set an example in the entire state.
