Jayani raids Civil Hospital Jalandhar, transfers doctor & nurse for negligence in duty

Chandigarh/Jalandhar, June 19, 2014: Punjab Health Minister Surjit Kumar Jayani today accompanied by Special Secretary Health Vikas Garg, Director Health Dr.Karanjit Singh & S.E PHSC Dr.HS Chahal conducted a surprise checking at civil hospital & ESI Hospital, Jalandhar. 

During this surprise visit Jayani along with other senior visited the wards and interacted with the patients and persons accompanying the patients and took feedback from them about the treatment being provided to them in the Government hospital. He specially asked the patients about the behaviour of the doctors and supporting staff with them.

Minister issued transfer orders of night duty doctor Dr.Surinder Pal from Jalandhar to Mansa for negligence in duty and also issued transfer orders of Staff Nurse Meena Kumari for asking the patients to bring medicines from private store despite of medicines available at drug store of the hospital. He also ordered a inquiry against pharmacist posted at Ashudi Centre Bhupinder Singh for charging more for medicines than the prescribed rates. Minister also issued a warning to Medical Superdient posted at civil hospital Jalandhar for not providing basic facilities and not maintaining cleanliness in the hospital wards and compound and said that he would again visit the hospital next month.

He once again warned the officials that no compromise would be tolerated with the health of the common people in government hospitals and non performers would be punished. He said that he is keeping a vigil on the activities of all the hospitals and facilities being provided to the patients through his personal sources also. He said that this surprise raid is also conducted on the personal feed from such people who complained to him.

Minister also instructed the the hospital officials that Death & Birth should be issued through Suvidha Centres instead of Hospitals and anyone involved in fraudulent activities would not be spared. He said that Jalandhar Hospital is being made a Model Hospital and strength of this 430 bed hospital is being increased with the addition of 100more beds.
