Warns Kejriwal against exploiting Punjab resources

It’s farmers’ victory, political, moral shame for AAP: Chugh

Chandigarh, Aug 11, 2025: BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh today termed the Punjab Government’s withdrawal of the controversial Land Pooling Policy as a historic victory for Punjab’s farmers and the 3 Crore people of the state.

Chugh said this rollback was the result of massive public pressure and BJP’s steadfast support to farmers in their determined battle against the AAP government’s anti-farmer plot. He accused Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal of designing the policy to benefit a select builder lobby and raise election funds, calling it a calculated conspiracy to grab the land of Punjab’s food providers.

“This policy was never for farmers — it was for AAP’s builder friends from Gurugram and Noida. It was meant to loot land from small and marginal farmers without fair compensation or proper allotment. The Punjab & Haryana High Court itself described the policy as anti-farmer and unjust,” Chugh said.

He highlighted that the Mann government’s desperate attempts to hike compensation from Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 50,000 and then Rs. 1 lakh per acre were nothing but gimmicks to mislead people. “Even this amount was negligible compared to the true value of the land and livelihood lost.” Chugh added.

Chugh also lashed out at AAP leaders for their silence. “Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and Satyendar Jain never uttered a single word in support of farmers. Punjab will never become a piggy bank for Kejriwal’s luxury politics,” he said.

He condemned the police atrocities on protesting farmers and the secret meetings between AAP leaders and patwaris to push the policy. “AAP sarpanches resigned in protest, their MLAs were stopped from entering villages. This shows the depth of public anger.”

Chugh lauded BJP workers for waging a determined, state-wide campaign against the policy — from memorandums to the Governor to protests in every district. “Public unity has broken the arrogance of the corrupt AAP government, which has failed on every front. Bhagwant Mann must apologise to Punjab’s farmers for this betrayal,” Chugh concluded.
