Chandigarh, 20 November 2025: The 55th Annual Conference of the Indian Pharmacological Society (IPC-IPSCON 2025) started today at Panjab University (PU). 

University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), Panjab University, is hosting the three day International Conference on Pharmacology on “Empowering Young Minds to Transform Pharmacology for Viksit Bharat,”. About 2,000 delegates, including 240 national and 30 international experts from nearly 10 countries are participating in the conference. 

Distinguished Professor at the Centre for the Advancement of Medicine, Canada Dr. Naranjan S. Dhalla, graced the event as the Chief Guest and delivered the plenary lecture on Beneficial effects of Polyclonal Antibodies. He emphasised the role of friends, who fuel our ideas and nurture meaningful relationships and his deep love for the nation. PU Vice Chancellor Prof. Renu Vig and Dean University Instruction Prof. Yojna Rawat encouraged everyone to strive for excellence and collaborative growth. 

The highlight of the inauguration was the conferring of the Lifetime Achievement Award to Dr. S. K. Kulkarni, Professor Emeritus, Panjab University, for his contributions to the field of neuropsychopharmacology. The Pharma Rattan awards were presented to Prof. P.L Sharma, Prof. Y.K Gupta and late Prof. Manjeet Singh in recognition of their enduring contributions to Pharmacological Sciences. On this occasion, Prof. Nirmal, Prof. Yadav and Prof. Sayid were adorned as IPS Fellows.

Dr. Nicholas Clere (faculty of Health,University of Angers France spoke on the topic of ‘Understanding endothelial-to-mesenchymal transition to improve cancer treatment; a major challenge involving the tumor microenvironment’. Dr. S.K. Bandopadhyay delivered Dr. G. Achari Oration and Dr. P.V. Dhiwan delivered Dr. P.L. Sharma oration. Dr. Suresh C. Tyagi from University of Louis Ville, USA, and Dr. Anil Gulati from Pharmazz, USA also addressed sessions.  

The first day focused on nurturing future leaders and innovators in pharmacological sciences by offering a comprehensive program featuring workshops, orations, plenary lectures, poster sessions, and industry exhibitions. 

IPC-IPSCON 2025 day one featured a diverse scientific programme including oral and poster sessions, distinguished orations, plenary lectures, invited talks, symposia, and global networking opportunities. A pre-conference workshop on Emerging Tools and Technologies: Alternatives to Animal Testing preceded the main event.

The participants displayed more than 500 posters in different Poster sessions at the Exhibition Ground. The industry Expo Exhibition showcased pharmaceutical products, medical devices, and clinical services from over 20 exhibitors, promoting industry-academia partnerships and collaborations. The conference also included online expert sessions, a cultural program, and a welcome dinner fostering camaraderie among delegates.
