Chandigarh, August 25, 2023: University Institutions of Fashion Technology& Vocational Development  (UIFT& VD) hosted a thought-provoking lecture on "Internationalization of Higher Education”. The lecture was attended by B.Sc. and M.Sc. Fashion and Lifestyle Technology Students, Research scholars and Faculty of the department. 

Prof. Sushil Kumar Kansal, a prominent figure in the field of education and Dean International Students, Panjab University was the resource person of the session. Prof. Kansal captivated the audience as he shared insights on various aspects of internationalization. He highlighted  Panjab University's achievement of A++ accreditation and how it accentuates the institution's commitment to academic excellence and innovation. He emphasized that the pursuit of quality education is pivotal in nurturing future leaders and contributing to societal development. During the lecture, Prof. Kansal emphasized the significance of student mobility and its positive impact on enhancing global perspectives. He encouraged students to actively engage in research and planning activities, citing the example of the university's summer school and exchange programs that offer invaluable international exposure. The lecture also touched upon the importance of Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) signed between Panjab University and global universities. He further highlighted how these collaborations foster cross-cultural academic experiences, promoting knowledge exchange and cultural diversity. The discourse extended to the renowned MITACS internship program, which provides students with the opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research and industry projects. He encouraged students to seize such prospects for personal and professional growth. He also stressed the significance of staying informed by reading newspapers, as a means to remain updated on global events and trends. He expounded on the impact of an informed populace in shaping a better society.

The lecture concluded with resource person’sremarks regarding the immense potential of the Indian market and the pivotal role that educated and skilled individuals play in driving its growth. He reiterated the need for high-quality educational institutions to prepare students for this responsibility. He also appreciated UIFT to be at the forefront of nurturing students who are not only academically proficient but also globally aware and socially responsible.International activities of UIFT with many Global Universities like Toronto Metropolitan University, Canada;University of the Fraser Valley, Canada;Belfast School of Art, Ulster University, UK; University of Technology, Sydney, Australia andNottingham Trent University, UK were discussed. The presentation by the speaker and the queries of students made the session highly interactive and interesting.  The lecture provided an inspiring and thought-provoking discourse on internationalization, academic excellence, and the importance of global engagement.
