International Women Day celebrated in Lyallpur Khalsa College

Jalandhar, March 8, 2022: P.G. Department of English, Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar celebrated International Women’s Day on the theme of ‘Breaking the Bias’. The chief guest of the event was Ms. Ambika Sonia. She was a solo bike rider who journeyed from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, covered more than 7500 kms, 12 states and 3 UTs promoting vaccination amongst our people. 

The chief guest was formally welcomed by honorable Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra and Dean Academic Affairs and Head of the PG Dept. of English Prof. Jasreen Kaur. The program started with a dance performance on the theme celebrating womanhood. It was followed by an enactment on the topic breaking the gender stereotypes. Chief Guest in her address shared her experience of taking up the challenge of spreading awareness in society and breaking the stereotype related to females. She motivated the young girls to break the stereotypes and myths and explore for better prospects. Then, fun games, focusing on daily chores, were played by staff members to give a message of understanding the various chores of both the genders. 

Principal Dr. Samra in his address emphasized on becoming up to date with the needs of prevailing situation. He also inspired the gathering to be all rounder and sympathetic to other gender. He congratulated the PG Department of English for organizing such an event which has practical implications. Winners of different fun games and Bulletin boards were awarded. Dr. Balraj Kaur, Secretary of English Literary Society paid the vote of thanks. The stage was managed by Prof. Geetanjali Mahajan. The staff members and students witnessed this event in huge number.
