The event was inaugurated by the Principal, Dr. Suman Chopra. Speaking on the occasion, she highlighted the vital role of biological diversity in the well-being of our planet. Emphasizing that the rich variety of life forms present on earth is an asset that needs to be protected to develop a thriving planet for future generations, she applauded the efforts of the department in organizing such events. Dr. Gagandeep Kaur, Head of the Department informed that the event has been organized in accordance with this year’s theme, “Harmony with Nature and Sustainable Development”. She said that working on the same lines as India’s biodiversity conservation initiative, “Ek ped Maa Ke Naam” (A Plant for Mother), a tree plantation campaign was organized, reinforcing the importance of sustainable practices. Students were encouraged to spread awareness within their communities about ways to contribute to a greener, more livable planet—the only one known to support life.
