International Artist Kanika Patawari takes Marwari global with her latest release ‘Dil Pardesi’

Taking Marwari and presenting it on a global music stage, Kanika Patawari an international musician of Indian origin, believes in staying true to her roots. Her latest electrifying hit ‘Dil Pardesi’ is a Marwari song with heavy influences of Indian and global music.

Dil Pardesi narrates a  playful romantic tale of meeting someone, falling in love and getting that nervous yet sweet feeling of their heart not being their own anymore. The title is inspired by this whimsical confession of losing your heart to someone special.

For Marwari music it is a great step forward. Other regional Indian music like Punjabi songs, have made carved a strong niche for themselves on the international scene. Patawari aims to do just that with Marwari. Giving the language of her hometown a larger, global platform is one of her dreams. Patawari was born and raised in a Marwari family in Belgium. However India has always been home. Her music style definitely shows the heavy influence of Indian music intermingling with global sensibilities. 

Commenting on her latest release, Kanika Patawari says "Dil Pardesi feels very close to me since it's in Marwari and whenever I sing in Marwari I feel closer to my roots. It feels amazing to see my community enjoy and embrace this music. I love watching music cross boundaries and singing in Marwari is one of my ways of doing it. I hope everyone enjoys these songs as well."

The song is already trending with music lovers, especially the millennial and Gen Z Marwari population. Dil Pardesi also sees Kanika collaborating with music producer ‘Ysoblue’, who has added an interesting electronic foundation to the track and give birth to an interesting blend of music. This is not the first time Patawari has had a Marwari song, her earlier hit Runak Jhunak was a fun, groovy dance number that was an out and out Marwari melody with an international vibe.

‘Dil Pardesi’ is a part of Kanika Patawari’s latest EP Currents,which is now available on her own youtube channel. Her other songs include Khone Do, Taare and Baawre all sung by her in Hindi are a part of the EP.
