Inspiring address instills positivity in minds of new students

Jalandhar: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya organized the Online Address of Principal Prof. Dr Atima Sharma Dwivedi for the new students. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi congratulated the newcomers on becoming part of this historic institution. Madam Principal acquainted the new students with the rich legacy and glorious present of KMV by telling that Kanya Maha Vidyalaya is one of the 19 institutions in the country to be awarded the Heritage status & KMV also has Autonomous status & Star College status from Government of India.


While addressing the students Madam Principal said that higher education is very important in one’s life, as it enables one to take decisions, realize one’s potential, develop one’s personally, shows the direction to find one’s goals and how to achieve goals. We have upgraded syllabus of all courses with 21st century skills and has made it in tune with the industrial standards. Along with new programs many professional growth development & life skills programs have been introduced with each semester. Madam Principal further maintained that for the holistic growth of students it is essential that the students should take active  part in all the innovative and value added programs being offered on the campus & should readily adopt the culture of KMV in their life as now they are part of this prestigious institution. She also motivated all the students to face this challenge of pandemic because at KMV we always face tough challenges very bravely and always emerge as winners. She also told the students to attend their online classes in a most disciplined way as they should not treat their studies in a light manner. Madam Principal also motivated the new students to join NCC in the college as KMV  has a rich tradition of students joining the NCC and armed forces. Madam Principal also gave detailed information to the students about the KMV legacy, the vision of KMV, the facilities available for students, scholarships, on- campus placements, state of the art infrastructure, value added programs being offered on the campus and the advantages of gaining autonomy. All these programmes are designed with the holistic development and growth of students in  mind. Among other Student Development Programmes we have Foreign Languages taught by Foreign Teachers. Each year we have teachers from France, Germany and Spain to teach native languages. Counseling(Career and General Counseling) is offered throughout the year to the students. Centre for Competitive Exams prepares students for IAS, PCS, Bank PO, UGC, Defense Services etc. Institute of IELTS by guided experts provide on-campus IELTS training to the desirous candidates. Centre for Leadership Development and Lifelong learning grooms the students and inculcates leadership qualities in them. KMV Entrepreneurial Development Centre enhances the entrepreneurial qualities of the   students by providing them adequate opportunities and organizing interactive sessions with inspiring entrepreneurs. Under Student Mentoring Programme each teacher mentors 10 to 15 students. International tie-ups with US Universities like Chatham, Boston and Lesley University plays a pivotal role in evolving KMVites into global citizens. Such wide variety of meaningful programmes reiterate KMV's commitment to the students meaningful futures.


During the address, a video of the college tour was also showed to the students and a Hostel video showcasing the beauty and hostel infrastructure of the college was also screened for the students . Dr Madhumeet, Head, PG Department of English was the moderator for the session.
