Chandigarh, March 16, 2026: Panjab University (PU) through the Department of Statistics organised a Cleanliness Drive as part of the Special Campaign for Swachhata Pakhwada- 2026.
The programme began with a presentation for students, staff and faculty members highlighting the importance of maintaining cleanliness on campus and the long-term benefits of sustainable waste management.
Following the presentation, participants took the Swachhata Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to maintaining cleanliness and actively contributing to such initiatives.
The participants then carried out a cleaning drive in the departmental premises, including the Seminar Hall, classrooms, computer laboratory and departmental library.
Prof. Narinder Kumar, Chairperson, Department of Statistics, PU, emphasised the importance of a holistic approach to cleanliness, stating that along with physical cleanliness, clarity of mind is equally important for academic and professional growth.
The drive was coordinated by Dr. Anju Goyal and Harminder Singh Deosi, with active participation from students, research scholars and faculty members of the department.
