Improving the Sex Ratio is Our Collective Responsibility: DC Sachin Gupta

Rohtak, October 24, 2025: Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta said that improving the sex ratio is our moral and collective responsibility. He was addressing villagers at Hasangarh today as the chief guest during a program organized to honor Village Samchana for receiving the Best Village Award under the Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao (Save the Daughter, Educate the Daughter) campaign.

Village Samchana was given this award for remarkable improvement in its sex ratio. From January 2024 to December 2024, 1,564 girls were born in the village for every 1,000 boys.

Under the scheme, Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta felicitated three top-performing girl students of Class 10 — Komal, Bhawna, and Neha — with cash prizes of ₹75,000, ₹45,000, and ₹30,000 respectively. Additionally, SMO Dr. Rita Goyal, Medical Officer Dr. Vishal, CDPO Dimple, the village Sarpanch, and the school Principal were honored with certificates of appreciation.

Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao campaign from Haryana itself. The program has been successfully implemented not only across Haryana but throughout the entire country.

He further added that villages with low sex ratios are under strict administrative vigilance. The administration is fully focused on taking strict legal action against those involved in illegal fetal sex determination. All officers in the district have been instructed to discharge their duties ethically to help improve the sex ratio.

Appealing to the villagers, he urged them to report any information related to female feticide to the authorities so that strict action can be taken against those involved in such heinous acts. He expressed hope that Village Samchana would continue to maintain its improved sex ratio in the future and that other villages would take inspiration from it.

During the event, Civil Surgeon Dr. Ramesh Chandra provided detailed information about the scheme and appealed to villagers to cooperate in improving the sex ratio. Health department officers and staff were also present on the occasion.

Under the Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao campaign, the Health Department has launched the Best Village Award Scheme. The award is given to the village that records the highest sex ratio. This scheme applies to villages with a population of more than 5,000. From the selected village, the top three girl students in Class 10 are awarded cash prizes based on merit- First position: Rs. 75,000; Second position: Rs. 45,000 and Third position: Rs. 30,000.
