IKGPTU Strengthens Digital and Lifelong Learning through SWAYAM–NPTEL Workshop
500+ Faculty Members and Students Participated in workshop; Faculty from 30+ Institutes across Punjab Join the Programme

Jalandhar/Kapurthala, September 21, 2026: Reinforcing its commitment to future-ready education and continuous skill development, I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) organised an interactive SWAYAM–NPTEL Workshop, with participation of more than 500 faculty members and students, including faculty representatives from 30+ institutes across Punjab.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. (Dr.) Arvind Kumar Bansal, Vice Chancellor, IKGPTU, emphasised that platforms such as SWAYAM and NPTEL should go beyond certificate acquisition and contribute to competency building, academic enrichment and preparation for emerging opportunities. He called upon faculty members to mentor students in selecting relevant courses and encouraged learners to go beyond the prescribed curriculum.
Dr. Navdeepak Sandhu, Registrar, IKGPTU, stated, “SWAYAM–NPTEL provides our faculty and students with valuable opportunities to access quality learning from leading experts. IKGPTU will continue to promote such platforms as an integral part of a dynamic and future-ready academic environment.”
The resource persons, Dr. Aangna Sengupta, Coordinator, NPTEL Local Chapter (North Zone), IIT Kanpur, and Professor Lakhveer Singh, In-charge, CML, GNDEC Ludhiana, provided an in-depth overview of SWAYAM–NPTEL courses, their academic and professional benefits, faculty development opportunities and their relevance under NEP 2020. They also discussed course selection, effective completion and application of learning, along with opportunities for faculty members to contribute through course development and academic expertise.
The programme brought together faculty from more than 30 institutes across Punjab, providing a platform for interaction and exchange of ideas on strengthening digital learning across higher education.
The workshop reaffirmed IKGPTU’s commitment to an academic ecosystem where learning extends beyond the classroom, technology complements teaching, and knowledge is translated into competence and innovation.
