Ludhiana, November 11, 2022: ICAR-Central Institute of Post-Harvest Engineering and Technology, Ludhiana, successfully organized a High-End Workshop on “Hands – on Training on High – End Scientific Equipment for Appraisement of Food Properties” for M.Sc. and Ph.D. students during 1st to 10th November 2022. 

This workshop was sponsored under the ‘Accelerate Vigyan Scheme’ of SERB (DST), New Delhi. This high end workshop cum training was aimed at capacity building of M.Sc. and Ph.D. students, for improving their efficiency and knowledge in the area of basic and applied research. During this ten days period, theory as well as practical classes were organized and students were allowed to use different equipment. They were imparted hands on training on high end equipment namely, Supercritical fluid extraction unit, Texture Analyzer, Rheometer, Rapid Visco Analyser, Differential Scanning Colorimeter, High performance liquid Chromatography, Gas Chromatography, Particle Size Analyzer, Scanning Electron microscopy etc. Hands on training on these advanced equipment was useful for updating their skills. 

The hands on training was imparted to the twenty four participants from different universities throughout the country, by the scientists of ICAR-CIPHET. The training programme was co-ordinated by the Event Organizer, Dr. Manju Bala, Principal Scientist, FG & OP Division, and Event Co-organizers, Dr. Mridula D., Head (A) FG & OP Division and Ms. Surya Tushir, Scientist, AS & EC Division, ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana. Dr S.K.Tyagi, I/c Director, ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana awarded certificates on successful completion of training to the student participants and encouraged them to develop proficiency at least, in one or two equipment.
