HPTDC to Operate from Dharamshala’s Historic Kashmir House: R.S. Bali
In a major development for the tourism sector, the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) will now operate from the historic Kashmir House in Dharamshala, announced R.S. Bali, Chairman of HPTDC and Vice Chairman of the Tourism Development Board (Cabinet Rank), during a press interaction in Nagrota.

Dharamshala, July 23, 2025: In a major development for the tourism sector, the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) will now operate from the historic Kashmir House in Dharamshala, announced R.S. Bali, Chairman of HPTDC and Vice Chairman of the Tourism Development Board (Cabinet Rank), during a press interaction in Nagrota.
Tourism Corporation Managing Director Rajiv Kumar and Assistant General Manager Kailash Thakur were also present on the occasion.
Bali informed that this will serve as a temporary office for HPTDC until a permanent location is finalized. He called it a moment of pride for Kangra district, describing the shift as a significant gift for the region.
“We are committed to developing Kangra as the tourism capital of Himachal Pradesh, and this move is a step in that direction,” he said, expressing gratitude to the Chief Minister for his vision and support.
Bali highlighted several key initiatives under the state government's vision for Kangra's tourism transformation, including:
The construction of a world-class zoo at Bankhandi,
Installation of India’s largest musical fountain at Nagrota,
And multiple other schemes in the pipeline aimed at boosting regional tourism.
He emphasized that all HPTDC officers and staff will now function from Dharamshala, coordinating and accelerating tourism development projects across the state.
“Kangra has immense natural beauty and untapped potential. Its villages are blessed with scenic charm and can become key tourist attractions in their own right,” he said, adding that in the coming years, Kangra would establish a distinct identity on the global tourism map.
Bali also reviewed preparations for the traditional Bal Mela to be held in Nagrota Bagwan on the birth anniversary of the late Vikas Purush G.S. Bali, and met with committee members and locals to discuss ongoing work and address public grievances.
