Ludhiana, June 30, 2025: Horizon School of Excellence, a unique initiative of Nehru Sidhant Kender Trust and Shri Gow Rakshni Sabha, which provides quality education to children from socially and economically disadvantaged sections of society, , organized an intensive 4-day Teacher Training Workshop for its teaching staff. The workshop covered a range of topics from early childhood education to understanding teaching-learning goals.

The sessions, conducted by renowned Ph.D. scholar Dr. Hridaykant Dewan, were designed to enhance teaching methodologies for primary educators. Dr. Dewan emphasized the importance of recognizing the knowledge and learning already present in a three-year-old child upon entering school. He highlighted that the teacher’s role is not merely to instruct but to facilitate learning by nurturing a positive attitude in the child—helping them become lifelong learners.

A key focus of the workshop was the use of  appropriate hands-on, engaging Teaching-Learning Materials (TLMs) to make abstract concepts tangible for young learners. Dr. Dewan also stressed that setting realistic and holistic learning goals plays a vital role in shaping the intellectual, emotional, and social development of primary students. He advocated for an exploratory, play-based approach to early childhood education rather than a rigid, outcome-focused one.

The sessions further emphasized that concepts should be scaffolded, not merely explained. Teachers were encouraged to rethink traditional practices and adopt strategies that respect the natural curiosity and developmental pace of each child.

The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Principal, Jasdeep Kaur, who expressed deep gratitude to Dr. Hridaykant Dewan for his insightful guidance and for initiating meaningful conversations around transforming classroom practices. She reiterated that education is not about transferring information, but about nurturing the child’s journey of self-discovery and independent learning.
