Home Science students bring laurels to the college in inter-college “Catalyst to Catwalk” competition

Chandigarh, March 28, 2023: Home Science students bring laurels to the college by winning prizes in  inter-college “Catalyst to Catwalk” competition organised in Guru Gobind Singh College for women, sector-26, Chandigarh, on March 15, 2023. The theme of the competition was 'Nature and Technology' where participants were supposed to do a catwalk showing how technology complements or harms nature. 

Nirmal of M.Sc (CT)  2nd year won 2nd prize for her dress draped with waste leaves and LED lights. Waste leaves depicted the idea of waste management and use of LED lights was based on the use of energy efficient measures to save the environment. Ekta gupta of M.Sc (CT) won third prize in the same competition, for wearing a dress based on the theme of how technology harms nature. Ekta beautifully presented her nature walk with her dress decorated with props of birds and peacocks. She depicted the message  how birds are killed each year from radiations emitted by  mobile towers.  Increasing  use of mobiles  is adversely affecting the health of birds and peacocks. By making a nature walk with her beautiful dress, she urged the audience to minimise the use of mobile phones. 

Principal Prof. Sudha Katyal  congratulated the winner and encouraged the students to make sustainable use of technology and energy efficient measures in their day to day life too.
