Chandigarh, October 22, 2025: Government Home Science College sector 10, Chandigarh organized a colorful and festive Diwali Mela  to promote the spirit of entrepreneurship and creativity among students. The event turned the college campus into a lively marketplace, showcasing the talent and innovation of budding entrepreneurs.

Over 50 stalls were set up by students of UG and PG classes, featuring an impressive range of handmade and sustainable products such as eco-friendly home décor titans, designer lampshades, paintings,  designer diyas,rangoli colours, handmade jwellery, cushion covers, festive crafts, cakes, and baked delicacies. Adding to the festive charm, the alumni of the college and founder of the startup Chocomumma, participated with a stall offering handmade candles and bakery items, symbolizing their continued connection with their alma mater and inspiring current students to pursue creative ventures.

The mela also offered a delightful food and fun zone that attracted visitors of all ages. Stalls serving healthy snacks like bhelpuri, sandwiches, and nachos were a major highlight, emphasizing the importance of nutritious yet tasty homemade food. A dedicated games section kept the festive energy high throughout the day.

 Earlier, Karwa Chauth mela was also organized by the students of the college, offering mehndi application, hair braiding, and jewelry stalls, which witnessed enthusiastic participation and added cultural vibrancy.

The Diwali Mela witnessed a brisk sale and high footfall, reflecting strong community support and appreciation for the students’ entrepreneurial efforts. The initiative perfectly embodied the college’s motto of “Earn While You Learn”, giving students real-time exposure to product development, marketing, and business management.

The Principal lauded the efforts of the students and IEP cell of the college, appreciating their creativity, teamwork, and commitment to sustainable practices. She encouraged students to continue exploring entrepreneurial opportunities that combine innovation with social responsibility.

The Diwali Mela 2025 was not just a festive celebration but also a meaningful learning experience, successfully blending skill development, sustainability, and enterprise — a true reflection of the values nurtured at Home Science College.
