Chandigarh, 14 November 2025: Governor of Haryana, Professor Ashim Kumar Ghosh, inaugurated the “Machma 2025” Transfer of Technology (ToT) Exhibition today at Parade Ground, Sector 17, Chandigarh.
The exhibition is jointly organised by the DST–Technology Enabling Centre (TEC), Panjab University, Chandigarh, and Fortune Exhibitors Pvt. Ltd., with support from the State Support Mission (SSM), Haryana.
The Governor was warmly welcomed by the dignitaries present, including Prof. Renu Vig, Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University; Prof. Manu Sharma, Coordinator, DST-TEC; Shri Karamjit Singh, Managing Director, Fortune Exhibitors; Arun Goyal, General Secretary, Chamber of Chandigarh Industries; Tarlochan Singh, President, ALMTI; Narinder Singh Sagoo, President, UFIT; Gurmeet Singh Kular, President, FICO; Dr Dapinder Kaur Bakshi, Joint Director, Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PSCST); and Rajiv K. Gupta, Labour Commissioner-cum-Director Factories and Director Transport, Government of Punjab.
In his inaugural address, the Governor expressed happiness over the strong participation, with 30 academic stalls and over 200 industry stalls, and noted that highly innovative industrial products are being showcased. He appreciated the participation of leading institutions such as IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Delhi, IIT Roorkee, IIT Jammu, IIT Ropar, IIT Mandi, BITS Pilani, Gujarat Technological University, Delhi Technological University and Chitkara University, among many others.
The Governor shared that the aims of Machma 2025 are to showcase industrial innovations, enable the transfer of technologies from academia to industry, attract paid industrial consultancy projects for academia, and support the development of deep-tech start-ups based on patented technologies. He urged the entire industrial community to visit the exhibition, interact with researchers and actively consider purchasing the technologies being displayed.
The Governor suggested creating a regional master list of promising technologies and a structured bank of unsolved industrial problems to help guide student and faculty research. He highlighted the important role of youth in the innovation ecosystem and appealed to scientists to generously license their patented technologies to young entrepreneurs. He noted that Chandigarh’s strong academic and scientific ecosystem, including Panjab University, PGI, PEC, CSIO, IMTECH, NIPER and INST, makes the region well positioned to emerge as a hub of deep-tech start-ups. He proposed establishing a CRIKC Angels’ Network consisting of alumni of CRIKC institutions to provide steady funding and investment support to emerging start-ups. He also congratulated Panjab University for being designated as the Lead Knowledge Institute for the State of Haryana under NITI Aayog’s State Support Mission.
Speaking on the occasion, Professor Renu Vig, Vice-Chancellor of Panjab University, expressed her pride that for the very first time an industry–academia exhibition of this magnitude is being held in the northern region. She shared that over 200 stalls from the industrial sector — including manufacturing, engineering design and machine tools — have been set up by leading companies such as LMW Machines, Jyoti CNC Automation, Bachan Lasers, Hindustan Hydraulics and Jaewoo Machines. Professor Vig highlighted that academia has partnered with MACHMA for the first time and that the response has been overwhelming. She emphasised that this demonstrates academia’s strong desire to translate innovative ideas into industrial solutions and contribute to India’s vision of becoming an Atmanirbhar Bharat.
A series of important technical sessions has been planned as part of the exhibition. On 14 November a national workshop-cum-seminar for MSMEs was organised in the seminar hall.
On 15 November from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm, experts will explain the latest technologies related to Industry 4.0 and IoT. On 16 November from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm, a special interactive session on industry–academia R&D and ToT will be conducted. On 17 November from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm, a session has been arranged in which representatives from industry will articulate, in an allotted stage time of five minutes each, the problems of their industrial units on which innovation is needed from academia.
The Governor encouraged industry leaders to visit Machma 2025, explore the innovations on display, purchase technologies, initiate consultancy engagements and contribute to strengthening the region’s innovation landscape.
