Chandigarh, March 11, 2015: Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today said the Punjab State Federation of Cooperative House Building Societies Ltd (HOUSEFED) would construct 124779 houses across the state in coming two years for needy people at a cost of Rs. Rs. 120583.03 lac.
Speaking after the installation ceremony of Gurmeet Singh Mann as the Chairman HOUSEFED here today, Badal said that cooperative house building society was established to put right the scarcity of housing by providing financial assistance to the individuals for construction of residential houses in rural and urban areas. "This institution has played a significant role in the housing sector of Punjab since last 45 years. He said that Punjab has a huge potential in housing sector and major housing companies are investing in the state to provide residential accommodations. 
Lauding the services of Gurmeet Mann towards the party Badal said that he is fully hopeful that under the chairmanship of Mann, HOUSEFED would achieve greater goals towards the development and social service in the state.
While assuming the office, Mann said that he is grateful to the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal for giving the responsibility to serve people.  Prominent amongst others present on the occasion included Harpreet Singh MLA, Dyal Singh Kolianwali Chairman Punjab Agro Foodgrains Corporation and hundreds of supporters of Mann.
