Chandigarh, June 25, 2016: Delivering his inaugural address today on the occasion of 7th passing out batch of MBA students of Chitkara University, the Punjab Governor, Prof Kaptan Singh Solanki said that our Universities have an enormous responsibility for building the Nation through the enrichment of higher education system and it is, therefore, imperative that there is an ideal integration of programmes of teaching, research, work experience and community development to enhance professional competence of our students to enable them to contribute to the Nation.
Congratulating Mr Shavinder Mohan Singh, Vice Chairman of Fortis Group for being awarded with Honorary Degree of Doctorate of Literature in recognition of his outstanding contribution in the fields of education, business and humanity by Chitkara University, Prof. Solanki said that Education is one amongst the most powerful tools of bulding great nations.
Keeping in view to build a strong and healthy nation our Hon’ble Prime Minister of India has given us (7 –S) to live a peaceful and happy life. Prof. Solanki asked students to imbibe these Seven Mantras which are-Sewabhav----Sense Of Service; Santulan-----Balance; Sainyam --- --Patience; Samanvay—--Coordination; Sakaratmak--Positive Attitude; Samvedna—--Sensitivity and Samvad-------Dialogue, in their daily lives to live a peaceful, happy and successful life.
Speaking on the occasion the Governor said that a nation would be known by its people and the people would be known by their education and their culture. Therefore he said education system should not view its task as giving only bookish knowledge but ought to take on its hands the moral responsibility of bringing up complete personality. Apart from academics, teachers should also give importance in character building because these are the main areas to focus on. Moral education is another area in which due importance and concerted efforts should be made to instill high moral values in students, he added.
Congratulating passing out students of MBA and their parents, the Governor said that he was sure that you will fulfill all your personal, professional and social responsibilities and make us all feel proud. He asked them not to foget giving back to your Alma mater, society and nation once you succeed.
The Governor expressed that the Chitkara University was providing a complete, meaningful and relevant education to the youth of Punjab and the neighbouring States. He stressed upon using technologies which are relevant to the conditions in which we live and needed by larger number of the people. He said the industry today has become technology oriented which would be the prime factor for successful performance.
The Governor expressed happiness that Chitkara University has taken great initiatves in skill India. He said the University is working with the sector skill councils and actively contributing to the Prime Minister’s vision. He also appreciated the role of Chitkara University for adopting five villages in the immediate vicinity and carried out many development programmes.
The Governor said that the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India has initiated programmes, like Digital India, Skill India and Make in India. He said that the youth have to play a significant role to materialize these programmes. He said that he was confident that youth would succeed in making India one of the leading countries of the world in 21st Century.
He exhorted the students that in this competitive age, focus should be on enhancing capabilities and confidence to achieve excellence through commitment, vision, determination and hard work. He said parents and teachers should mould the minds of the youth and create desire in their mind to also know about spiritual values and inner knowledge along with education.
The Governor also gave degrees to all the MBA passing out students. Later on, Governor honoured the Mother of Dr. Shivinder Mohan Singh, Vice Chairman Fortist Healthcare Limited.
Prominent amongst others who spoke on the occasion included Dr. Ashok K. Chitkara, Chancellor, Dr. Madhu Chitkara, Vice chancellor, Mr. Shivinder Mohan Singh, Vice Chairman Fortis Healthcare Limited and Dr. S.C. Sharma, Registrar.
