The University Institute of Fashion Technology and Vocational Development (UIFT&VD) at Panjab University, Chandigarh, initiated the orientation program for the 1st semester of M.Sc. Fashion and Lifestyle Technology. The program began with an introduction to the faculty and informative session by the Chairperson Dr Anu H. Gupta which aimed at providing students with valuable insights into the fashion industry and academic resources available to them. This was followed with faculty and student interaction. This event marked the beginning of an exciting phase for the new batch of M.Sc. Fashion and Lifestyle Technology students.

Chandigarh August 22, 2023: The University Institute of Fashion Technology and Vocational Development (UIFT&VD) at Panjab University, Chandigarh, initiated the orientation program for the 1st semester of M.Sc. Fashion and Lifestyle Technology. The program began with an introduction to the faculty and informative session by the Chairperson Dr Anu H. Gupta which aimed at providing students with valuable insights into the fashion industry and academic resources available to them. This was followed with faculty and student interaction. This event marked the beginning of an exciting phase for the new batch of M.Sc. Fashion and Lifestyle Technology students.

During the course of the orientation, three insightful sessions were conducted to enlighten the students about various aspects of the fashion industry and academic support. The first session was conducted by an entrepreneur and a designer Neeraj Fotedar Verma. She is a fashion industry professional with diversified experience of over 25 years into the world of fashion and Textiles and  is now running her own brand from the last 10 years. In her lecture, she discussed about the enriching experiences and insights into the worldwide fashion industry do’s and don’ts. She also elaborated on diversified careers and a lovely world to discover and explore which is full of passion, design and creativity. She also discussed about the importance of sustainability and its global impact on fashion Industry. Lastly, she encouraged students towards building their brand and entrepreneurship.

In the second session, Dr. Neeraj Kumar, Deputy Librarian at Panjab University, presented a comprehensive overview of the electronic resources available through the university's e-library. He also provided valuable information about the APA citation manual and remote access to the e-library, enabling students to make the most of these resources for their academic pursuits.

The final session of the day was conducted by Dr. Amandeep Singh Marwaha, Associate Director of the Central Placement Cell at Panjab University. His session focused on preparing students for placement opportunities and emphasized the uniqueness of each individual's path to success. Marwaha highlighted the relevance of artificial intelligence and knowledge of 3D printing in the fashion industry, providing students with a glimpse into the evolving landscape of the field.

The orientation program was met with enthusiasm and engagement from the students, who expressed their eagerness to embark on this journey of academic and professional growth. The faculty members and guest speakers provided valuable insights that are expected to inspire and guide the students as they progress through their M.Sc. Fashion and Lifestyle Technology.
