Free Eye Check-up Camp at Horizon School Of Excellence
Horizon School Of Excellence, a unique initiative of Nehru Sidhant Kender Trust and Shri Gow Rakshni Sabha, remains committed to the well-being and holistic development of children from economically weaker sections of the society. With the guiding belief that “Early care is the best repair,” the school organized a free eye check-up camp for their students from Ankur (Nursery) to Class IV.

Ludhiana, May 2, 2025: Horizon School Of Excellence, a unique initiative of Nehru Sidhant Kender Trust and Shri Gow Rakshni Sabha, remains committed to the well-being and holistic development of children from economically weaker sections of the society. With the guiding belief that “Early care is the best repair,” the school organized a free eye check-up camp for their students from Ankur (Nursery) to Class IV.
The camp was conducted in collaboration with Dayanand Medical College & Hospital (DMC&H) under their outreach initiative, Project “Roshani.” A team of highly qualified eye surgeons, ophthalmologists, optometrists, and support staff carried out the examinations.
The check-up included screening for several common childhood eye conditions, such as: Myopia, hypermetropia ,lazy eye, squint and other visual impairments and developmental concerns.
The initiative focused not only on early detection, but also on ensuring follow-up care. Children identified with vision problems will undergo comprehensive secondary evaluations, and those in need will be provided with free spectacles, ensuring that no child’s learning is hindered due to undiagnosed vision issues.
Dr. Priyanka Arora, one of the lead organizers, shared: “Our mission goes beyond just screening. We are committed to providing continued care so that every child receives the support they need to thrive both academically and personally.”
Jasdeep Kaur, the Principal of Horizon School Of Excellence, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the team from DMC&H, Gauri Chhabra, and the dedicated members of the Sewa Foundation, whose collaborative efforts made this noble initiative possible.
This health initiative reflects the school’s vision of care, access, and opportunity for every child. Horizon School Of Excellence will continue to host such proactive health interventions in the future to ensure that every student is healthy, happy, and ready to learn.
