First National ‘Youth Parliament–2026’ Successfully Organized at CGC University
Former Member of Parliament Avinash Rai Graces the Event as Chief Guest; 118 Participants from Across India Take Part
Mohali, February 10, 2026: The School of Legal Studies at CGC University, Mohali successfully organized its first CGCU National Youth Parliament–2026. The prestigious event provided a national platform for young participants to engage in in-depth discussions on key socio-political issues of the country while gaining practical exposure to parliamentary procedures.
The Youth Parliament witnessed enthusiastic participation with 118 registrations from different parts of India, highlighting its national significance. To further motivate the students, a cash prize pool of ₹30,000 was announced during the event.
Former Member of Parliament Avinash Rai, who attended as the Chief Guest, lauded the initiative taken by the university and stated that such platforms offer students a golden opportunity to understand the nuances of parliamentary functioning. The event was further enriched by the presence of renowned social activist Mr. Naginder Singh Parmar and senior journalist Mr. Tarun Jha as special guests, who shared their insights on governance systems and the role of media in a democratic framework.
The entire program was conducted under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) J.P. Yadav, Director, School of Legal Studies. Dr. Divya, Event Coordinator, played a significant role in ensuring the smooth and successful execution of the event.
The Youth Parliament was conducted in three sessions, closely simulating real parliamentary proceedings, including the commencement of the House, Question Hour, Zero Hour, open debates, and final resolutions. The panel of judges evaluated participants based on their articulation, reasoning, and parliamentary conduct. The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony and the unveiling of Lex Fiesta.
