Ludhiana, April 23, 2015: The Ludhiana Fire Brigade is on modernisation spree and they got a shot in the arm when Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) donated 25 fire safety masks for the firemen working in the city. In the absence of these masks, it was very difficult for the firemen to perform their duty due to dangerous and hazardous fumes and smoke. These masks were handed over to the fire brigade in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Rajat Agarwal today.

These masks would help the fire fighters in dousing the flames in case of any fire with ease. The Deputy Commissioner thanked CII for their gesture and urged other corporates to come forward in helping the district administration regarding disaster management.

While speaking on the occasion, Rajat Agarwal said that disaster management is one of the foremost areas which need attention. He said that the Punjab government is modernising fire brigade as well as other such organisations so that precious lives could be saved.

He said that CII has donated 25 masks, each worth around Rs 4,000, is a welcome step. He said that Ludhiana being an industrial city, other corporate houses should come forward and help the District Administration. He said that a lot needs to be done in this sector and this is possible only with the collective effort of Punjab government, industrialists, corporate houses as well as the city residents.

The Deputy Commissioner also urged the corporate houses to contribute in other sectors such as education, healthcare and others.

Prominent among those present on the occasion included Neeraj Satija, chairman, Ludhiana Zonal Council of Confederation of Indian Industry, Northern Region, ADC Khanna Ajay Sood, Assistant Divisional Fire Officer (ADFO) Bhupinder Singh Sandhu, besides several others.
