Jalandhar, March 17, 2015: The fifth day of Apeejay Svran International Design and Performing Arts Week began on a sunny morning and the environment got lifted up with the well experienced artists teaching the skills of making 'Phulkari', 'In-lay Work', 'Punjabi Jutti', 'Dhurries' to Foreign Delegates in a workshop. Craftsmen from the state acquainted the delegates with skills and materials required to make the objects.

 On the other hand, 33 delegates from China, Rotterdam and Netherlands accompanied by college faculty members visited Chinar Forge, a well known industry of manufacturing carpets and blankets.

A Faculty Development Programme on the topic "Tradition and Modernization of traditional and Chinese Crafts" was organised for the college students and delegates from other countries. Zeng Bin, Teacher of Arts & Design, Chengdu Textile College, China enlightened the audience as the Resource Person. He introduced everyone with the situations involved and influence of traditional Chinese Craft, its inheritance and preservation. According to him, the Chief Skills required to get mastery over these arts are graving, cutting, dying, braiding, twisting, sewing, painting, casting, polishing etc. He threw light on the types of Chinese embroidery- Shuo, Shuzhou, Hunan, Cloisonne, etc. The Programme was packed with professional knowledge for the delegates.

On the other side, Prof. Maarten Regouin, Willem de Kooning Academy, Netherlands inaugurated an exhibition of handmade artifacts, paintings and clothings being displayed at Virsa Vihar for Jalandharites.
