Experts Deliver Special Lectures on E-Resources at MDU Workshop
Experts emphasized the growing importance of e-resources in enhancing higher education and research during a workshop held at the Vivekananda Library of MDU. The workshop, titled “Leveraging Library Resources for Impactful Reading, Teaching and Research,” focused on effective utilization of digital academic resources.
Rohtak, April 7, 2026: Experts emphasized the growing importance of e-resources in enhancing higher education and research during a workshop held at the Vivekananda Library of MDU. The workshop, titled “Leveraging Library Resources for Impactful Reading, Teaching and Research,” focused on effective utilization of digital academic resources.
Speakers highlighted that e-resources provide easy access to historical documents, economic data, global political history, theoretical perspectives in political science, and valuable content for mass communication studies. They stressed that students, researchers, and faculty must learn to use these resources efficiently.
Librarian Dr. Satish Malik shared that MDU’s Vivekananda Library is among the leading libraries in India, offering nearly one lakh e-books, over 13,000 e-journals, 17 databases, and four research tools. He added that the university provides access to e-resources from reputed institutions.
Digital Product Trainer Aman Sharma from Cengage Learning India Ltd. and Mickey Mehta, representative from Sage Publications, guided participants on the use of various databases. The workshop was coordinated by Information Scientist Dr. Sunder Singh, while Prof. Harish Kumar, former Head of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, chaired the first session.
Prof. Sunit Mukherjee and Deputy Librarian Dr. Seema Deswal were also present. The workshop included detailed discussions on resources related to 19th-century photography, maps and travel literature, Asia and the Western world, Europe, Africa, imperialism, colonialism, as well as archives from The Economist and Financial Times, and historical Indian documents from 1947 to 1980.
Research scholars and students from departments including History, Political Science, Journalism and Mass Communication, Sociology, Psychology, Commerce, and Economics actively participated in the workshop.
