Expenditure observer inspects nakas by SSTs during night hours

Ludhiana, May 26, 2024: Expenditure observer for Ludhiana Parliamentary Constituency, Pankaj Kumar IRS conducted inspection of Nakas by Static Surveillance Teams (SST) during night hours on Saturday. 

Expenditure oberver Pankaj Kumar remained in the field for around four hours and conducted inspection in assembly segments of Ludhiana Central, Ludhiana East, Atam Nagar and Ludhiana South. The SST nakas were inspected near Clock tower, Baba Than Singh chowk, outside Green Land school near Vardhman chowk, Sector 32, ATI chowk, Partap chowk, Quality chowk among other areas. 

Kumar said that the SSTs have been given a task to check all small and big vehicles to check the movement of cash, liquor, contrabands or any other things which can be used for inducing the voters. 

These teams are headed by officers with executive magisterial powers and includes police officers and videographers to record their activities on a daily basis. 

Kumar said that apart from cash, liquor etc, the SST teams have also been asked to keep a check on sale and transportation of consumer goods like utensils, garments etc which can be used for inducing voters ahead of elections. 

Directions were also issued to intensify integrated nakas by SSTs and excise officials to check illegal sale and movement of liquor during elections.

Nine static surveillance teams (SST) have been assigned to each assembly constituency of Ludhiana and these teams are responsible for strict implementation of the Model Code of Conduct.

Expenditure observer Pankaj Kumar asked the teams to perform their duties with dedication to ensure free, fair and transparent general elections.
