Rohtak, September 15, 2026: Engineering students should move beyond earning degrees and focus on developing new ideas, technologies and knowledge to contribute to the making of a developed India, MDU Registrar Prof Sandeep Bansal said on Engineers’ Day on Monday.
Speaking at a programme organised at the University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), MDU, he urged students to use their technical knowledge to create solutions that can bring meaningful change. Citing the journey of WhatsApp, Bansal said a single innovative idea could become the starting point of a major transformation.
The event marked the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Sir M Visvesvaraya, with faculty and students paying tribute to the legendary engineer.
Dean Academic Affairs Prof Randeep Rana called upon students to apply scientific knowledge to real-world problems while keeping environmental sustainability in mind. Dean Students’ Welfare Prof Sapna Garg, Dean Engineering and Technology Prof Yudhvir Singh and UIET Director Prof Vineet Singla also addressed the gathering and stressed the need for technical competence, creativity and innovation.
The programme featured idea pitching, rangoli and poster-making competitions. In rangoli, Sakshi and Sneha secured first place, followed by Payal and Hema, while Anmol and Khushi stood third. Charu won the poster-making competition, with Shruti and Himanshu securing second and third positions.
In idea pitching, the Speaking Hands team emerged winners, followed by Team Mechanical and Breadboard Bandits.
