Chandigarh: Dev Samaj College of Education, Sector 36, Chandigarh organized the book release of 'A Teacher Speaks: An interview with life' an autobiography of Dr. S. Kumar, at its college auditorium here. Dr. S. Kumar, is an eminent educationist of the region and has retired as the director of the prestigious organisation - Bharat Scouts & Guides.

The book was released by Rubinderjit Singh Brar, Director School and Higher Education, Chandigarh Administration in presence of the author - Dr. S . Kumar, and other renowned dignitaries from the field of education.

Prominent among those present were Dr. Dalip Kumar, Mission Coordinator, RUSA, UT Administration;  S. S. Dahiya, Director, SCERT and Dr. Parvinder Singh, Vice Chancellor, Rayat and Bahra College.

Dr. Agnese Dhillon, Principal of Dev Samaj College of Education for Women welcomed all the dignitaries and provided a brief overview of the achievements of the college in the past years. Floral greetings were extended by the Principal to all worthy guests.

The welcome address was followed by the opening address of Dr. Dalip Kumar, son of Dr. S. Kumar - the esteemed author of the book.  He introduced the author and his book to the audience. He not only took pains in reviving the memories of the events that have been incorporated in this work but has also been instrumental in getting the book published.

During the occasion, Dr. S. Kumar shared his journey as real-life teacher and talked about the challenges and opportunities which encouraged him to bring out this publication. Even at the age of 85, he is busy at his desk and feels satisfied with his achievements as a teacher. Learning till life is his passion.

Rubinderjit Singh Brar spoke about the context of the book. The book is an autobiography of a teacher having clear perceptions and intentions. The author who is a teacher himself shed light on facing challenges and grabbing opportunities along the way with clear intentions, and how this  helps a great deal in the long run. Dr. S. Kumar further emphasized that a teacher and an administrator must possess the qualities of a leader and have team spirit.

During the occasion, the copies of the book were distributed amongst the audience. The book launch received an overwhelming response from the enthusiastic gathering. The ceremony ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Anuradha Agnihotri.
