Australia based writer Manjit Boparai's book "Kaafir Hi Pavittar Mankuh" released by Gurbhajan Gill and other writers
Ludhiana: Brisbane (Australia) based progressive Punjabi writer Manjit Singh Boparai's new large format book titled "Kaafir Hi Pavittar Mankuh" was released by the Chairman of Punjabi Lok Virasat Academy Ludhiana, Prof. Gurbhajan Singh Gill along with his colleagues at Ludhiana. Boparai's classmate Kuldeep Singh Gill from (Surrey) Canada presented copies of this book to Prof. Gurbhajan Singh Gill, Balwinder Singh Boparai and others. The book titled "Kaafir Hi Pavittar Mankuh" carries pictures of three scientific outlook figures, Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Stephen Hawking and Richard Dawkins, who have dispelled the fog of ignorance and enlightened the world through their writings. This book is dedicated to all those heroes, warriors and martyrs who have sacrificed their lives in history of thousands of years for the sake of the truth, were burned alive and suffered heinous torture and are still being killed in the twenty-first century. Book depicts such flag bearers who did not fear jails but spoke the truth.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Gurbhajan Singh Gill said that Manjit Singh Boparai who hailed from Ludhiana district had started writing while living in Punjab. His first book, “Jyotish Jooth Bolda Hai” has already been sold in millions of copies and has been translated into many Indian languages including English and Hindi. Gurbhajan said that Manjit was his pen friend, whose every writing I consider my privilege to read. About three decades ago, he wrote the Australian song “Ozzy Ozzy”, which was filmed on Olympian Kathy Freeman. Among his social activities, becoming the president of “Sikh Games” Australia twice, sending more than 700 dead bodies from Australia to Indian families with the help of the Punjabi community at different times and places and standing firm with his colleagues against racial discrimination everywhere are his core passions too. Gill further said that it was also a matter of pride that along with our beloved writer Sarabjit Sohi and his colleagues, he is a big supporter and leader of literary and cultural activities in Queensland. Since his studies at Government College Karamsar (Rara Sahib), every moment of his life has been devoted to public welfare.
The author of the book, Manjit Singh Boparai, while joining via video call, said that it took him more than fifteen years to complete this book. This was possible only because scientific material and scientific findings could be obtained through the internet. He said that The Taraksheel movement of Punjab removed his doubts and dichotomy at his young age. Later, at the international level, he found that the readership has now started examining and testing every phenomenon with the help of logic. He concluded by reciting a piece of his poem to clarify his belief, saying, “If Socrates had not been poisoned among the fundamentalists, man would have climbed the moon centuries ago. Copernicus and Galileo would not have been ridiculed nor would Bruno have been burned in the fire.”
Sharing information about the book, Kuldeep Singh Gill said that it has been published by Chintan Prakashan Ludhiana. About this book, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Ji’s nephew Prof. Jagmohan Singh, famous scholar living in Canada Dr. Pirthipal Singh Sohi, Balbir Chand Longowal and Sarabjit Sohi have also sent their valuable comments. Manjit Boparai has also written a chapter about the process of creating this book.Renowned journalist Balwinder Singh Boparai, said that although he himself have been an Amritdhari Sikh since childhood, but he felt that these writings tread new paths creating dialogue by contributing a great deal to the development of the human mind.
Boparai thanked all the collaborators. Master Harish Pakhowal, the director of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Book Centre Punjabi Bhawan, Ludhiana, the distributor of the book, said that this book is receiving a great response in the country and abroad.
