Education Department Promotes 2266 Masters As Lecturers: Dr. Cheema

Chandigarh, July 4, 2016: The Education Department, Punjab, today promoted 2266 masters as lecturers as part of the long term strategy to promote teachers besides making new recruitments in order to ensure the upliftment of the standard of government schools in the state.
Disclosing this in a statement here today, Punjab Education Minister, Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema said that the list of promoted teachers from master to lecturer in 18 disciplines has been uploaded on the departmental website www.ssapunjab.org subject wise. He also disclosed that very soon the promoted lecturers would be called at the auditorium of the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) Mohali for the allotment of the choice stations. The newly promoted lecturers would be placed in the pay scale of 10300-34800+5400 grade pay.
Dr. Cheema further said that besides the promoted ones, the list of those teachers has also been uploaded on the website of the department who could not be promoted due to some reason or the other with the reasons stated.
Giving more details about the subject wise promoted lecturers, the Education Minister said that 520 lecturers of Punjabi, 289 of Economics, 241 of Political Science, 233 of English, 195 of Physical Education, 170 of History, 135 of Physics, 130 of Chemistry, 91 of Biology, 86 of Hindi, 62 of Mathematics, 59 of Commerce, 24 of Geography, 9 of Sociology, 5 of Fine Arts and 3 each of Sanskrit and Home Science were promoted.
He also elaborated that the promotions have been carried out as per the record till 14th January, 2016 and if any teacher has attained the qualification for promotion to lecturer from 14th-30th June, 2016 provided he/she is senior to the last teacher promoted in his/her subject then he/she can submit his/her record till 8th July 2016 at the Government Model Senior Secondary School, Phase- 3B1, Mohali. The department would consider such cases.
