Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal Puts Youth at the Forefront of Nation Building Through Seva Sankalp, Marking 25 Years of PM Modi’s Public Life
From nearly 2,500 students envisioning their dream India to innovation, rangoli inspired by national development and a blood donation camp, four initiatives connect young people with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047
Jalandhar, October 21, 2026: Marking 25 years of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s public life and journey of governance, Seva Sankalp – Rashtranirman Ke 25 Saal, convened by Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), extends the spirit of service and nation building through a series of youth focused initiatives. From encouraging students to articulate their vision for India to promoting creativity, innovation and community service, the programmes seek to connect the milestone with the aspirations of the generation that will shape the country’s next chapter and contribute to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
Spanning a school level competition, a creative engagement around government schemes, an innovation focused programme and a blood donation camp, the initiatives reflect a broader effort to connect the milestone with the generation that will shape India’s next chapter. The focus is on encouraging young people to think about the country they want to build and recognise the many ways in which they can contribute to its progress.
One of the most striking examples of this engagement was ‘Mere Sapno Ka Bharat’ at St. Joseph School, Jalandhar, Punjab, where nearly 2,500 students participated in elocution and painting competitions. Asked to imagine the India of their dreams, students expressed their aspirations through speeches and artwork, touching upon cleaner surroundings, better education, equality, opportunity, kindness, innovation and national pride. The scale of participation made the initiative a significant platform for young voices to articulate their vision for the country.
Reflecting on the students’ response, Dr Mittal said, “For me, that is where Viksit Bharat becomes real; in the dreams of children who are beginning to imagine their own role in shaping it.”
The campaign also brought national development themes into the realm of creative expression through ‘Seva Ke Rang, Rashtra Ke Sang’, a rangoli initiative centred on the vision of public welfare and progress reflected in government schemes. By using a familiar art form to engage participants with larger national priorities, the activity connected cultural expression with awareness of the country’s development journey.
Complementing these efforts, the Innovation Challenge, also referred to as the Innovation Marathon in the event list, added an ideas driven dimension to Seva Sankalp. The initiative brought innovation and problem solving into the conversation around nation building, highlighting the importance of encouraging young minds to engage with challenges and think about solutions that can contribute to India’s future.
Other youth focused engagements under Seva Sankalp, including Aashirwad Ka Dhaaga, have also contributed to the initiative’s broader effort to connect young people with the vision of nation building.
The fourth initiative took the spirit of service from ideas to direct action. A blood donation camp at Lovely Professional University (LPU) encouraged participation in a life saving cause, reinforcing the message that contributing to society can begin with a simple but meaningful act. It extended Seva Sankalp’s emphasis on public responsibility into a practical expression of community service.
Reflecting on the broader purpose of these initiatives, Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal said, “Nation building is a collective effort that begins with the ideas and aspirations of young people and grows through their willingness to contribute to society. Whether through creativity, innovation or acts of service, every effort can play a role in shaping a stronger Bharat. Through Seva Sankalp, the aim is to encourage this spirit of participation and shared responsibility as India moves towards Viksit Bharat 2047.”
Together, these initiatives give a people led dimension to Seva Sankalp – Rashtranirman Ke 25 Saal. While the 25 year milestone reflects on a significant journey of public service under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the programmes also turn attention towards the aspirations and responsibilities of the generation that will carry India forward.
For Dr Mittal, the larger significance lies in creating avenues through which national development becomes something young people can engage with directly; whether by expressing their vision for India, understanding development priorities, exploring new ideas or contributing to a cause that serves others. As the country looks towards Viksit Bharat 2047, these initiatives place participation and a sense of shared responsibility at the centre of the journey ahead.
