DMCH to organise obesity patient support group meeting

Ludhiana, December 15, 2021: Having obesity increases the risk of severe illness from Covid-19. Having obesity may triple the risk of hospitalisation during Covid-19 infection. There is a strong association of BMI with disease severity and mortality in Covid-19 patients in different studies.
 
For the people who want to get rid of excess fat and obesity DMC&H is organising patients support group meeting for obese people on 17th December, 2021, at Dumra auditorium, Ludhiana.
 
The meeting will be conducted by the Surgeons from Department of Surgery Dr Ashish Ahuja and Dr. P S Nain along with medical students. Various aspects and causes of obesity will be discussed during the meeting along with various ways by which obesity can be cured and the role of bariatric surgery will be discussed by doctors. This will be a free of cost initiative taken by hospitals to help patients get rid of obesity and diabetes.
 
This support group meeting is exclusively for obese patients who desperately want to loose weight and are having diabetes, hypertension, joint pains etc. There will be free BMI check-up, free diet counselling, different weight loss procedures will be discussed with the specialists of different fields.
